The Maryville College baseball team fell to No.18 University of Texas at Tyler by the score of 8-1 on Sunday afternoon in Jackson, Mississippi.
Patriot hurler Ryan Cheatham (1-0) scattered only four hits over four innings while striking out five Fighting Scots.
Maryville's leftfielder Bryce Redaja was the only Scots to tally a pair of hits against the Trinity arms. Centerfielder Derek Hurt and designated hitter Alden Wright were the only additional Scots to garner hits on the afternoon.
In contrast, Trinity posted 18 hits led by Ben Romines' 4-for-5 effort at the plate. Daniel Williams and Alex Bishop each went 3-for-5 with the pair also blasting homeruns. Trenton Buchhorn also added three hits to the Patriot attack.
MC's Joe Logsdon suffered the loss on the mound after allowing four runs on eight hits over the first two innings.
Texas-Tyler advances to 2-1 on the season while Maryville falls to 2-2. The Scots will now prepare to host MacMurray on Saturday, February 18th for a three-game series.
