Following a three-day total of 957, the Maryville College men's golf program finished 29th at the 2017 Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational at Pine Lakes Golf Course in Jekyll Island, Georgia.
The Scots posted a 326, 318, and 313, getting better each round on the par 72 challenging course. MC finished +93 over the weekend. USA South foe Greensboro College claimed the team title with an 875, 11 strokes over par.
Individually, Oglethorpe's Jacob Arnett finished -4 to pace the field with a 73-68-71-212 to claim the individual crown.
In a tournament that featured over 150 collegiate linksters, Maryville was led by Nik Kalolo's 103rd place finish after an 81-76-79 (236). D.J. Shelton finished 119th with a 79-82-80 (241). Garrett Compliment was 126th with an 81-79-83 (243). Wil Manuel and Doug Whitten had the best final rounds for Coach Ron Water's crew with 77's on their final rounds. Manuel posted an 85-83-77 (245) for a 132nd finish while Whitten deposited an 88-81-77 (246) for a 134th finish.
The Scots will now prepare for the Huntingdon Spring Invitational at Wynlakes Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama on March 27-28.
