Scots set new MC single-round record, ranking third after round one

The Maryvile College Scots golf team set at new single-round record on Sunday morning, as the team ranks third after round one of the Rhodes College Fall Classic.

The Scots recorded a two-over 290 to beat their previous record of 293 by three strokes. Maryville had tied that record last weekend at the Tom Kinder Memorial, before breaking it this weekend.

Freshman Tyler Bray – fresh off his USA South Rookie of the Week honor – led the Scots with a three-under par 69. The freshman standout ranks tied for second on the 7,200-yard Tunica National course.

Bray ranked 17th in the nation statistically according to Golfstat.com after last weekend's tournament before Sunday's outing, as he records his second under par outing of the season.

Garrett Compliment recorded a 73, one-over outing, while Doug Whitten and D.J. Shelton both recorded two-over par 74s to complete the scoring the for the Scots.

Hunter DeSena shot 81 in the first round, as the top for scores are recorded in the team total.
