The USA South Athletic Conference has released their performers of the week and Maryville College freshman Tyler Bray was named the league's rookie of the week in men's golf following a pair of outstanding finishes over the past two weeks.
The freshman from Lutz, Florida participated in two events over the past two weeks. At the Rhodes College Fall Classic on September 17-18, Bray finished tied for fourth by shooting a three-under-par 213. In the 54-hole event, Bray opened with a three-under-par 69, followed by another three-under par 69 and finished with a three-over par 75. He becomes just the second golfer in program history to finish a 54-hole event under par. Bray helped the Scots to an eighth-place finish at the event. Last week, Bray placed tied for third in a dual meet versus Hiwassee College by shooting a three-over par 73 in the 18-hole event.
"I'm very proud of Tyler and his selection as rookie of the week for the second week in a row," stated Scots' Head Golf Coach Ron Waters. "His career is off to a great start. He has a great attitude and always wants to get better."
The men's program is preparing for the Royal Lakes Fall Invitational at Royal Lakes Country Club in Flowery Branch, Georgia on October 7-8.
