Manuel, Bray pace Scots at Royal Lakes Fall Invitational

The Maryville College men's golf program spent the weekend in Flowery Branch, Georgia competing in the Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Invitational.

 

The Scots' top-five finished with a 301 after the first round, placing 14th in the 18-team field.

 

Maryville's Wil Manuel and Tyler Bray each completed the 6,856 yard, par 72 course with an even round of 72 and each placing tied for 17th after the initial round.

 

Head Coach Ron Waters was optimistic on the Scots collective start. "We played well this afternoon. We were only one over par through the first nine," stated Waters.

 

North Carolina Wesleyan paced the team scores with a 283 with Battling Bishop Grady Anderson shooting a six-under 66 to pace the individual scores.

 

Additional scores for the Scots top linksters included: Doug Whitten (77, +5, 58th), D.J. Shelton (80, +8, 77th), Garrett Compliment (87, +15, 97th).

 

The tournament will conclude on Sunday.
