MC's Peyton Wheat shoots collegiate best 73 at Hiwassee Fall Invitational First Round

Maryville College entered a "B" team at the 2018 Hiwassee Fall Invitational on Monday. The Scots finished the first round at the Oak Ridge Country Club in Oak Ridge, Tennessee with a 310, 22-over par team effort.

 

Pikeville College earned team honors after the first round with a 306.

 

Individually, Pikeville's Dustyn Reinstetle and Blake Moody finished tied for 1st place with an even-par 72 on the 6,830-yard course.

 

Maryville's Peyton Wheat shot a collegiate-best round of 73 to finish the first day in 3rd place with a one-over-par effort.

 

The Scots' Garrett Compliment is only two shots off the pace in 5th place with a 74.

 

MC's DJ Shelton is tied for 17th in the 36-player field with a plus-8 final score of 80.

 

Additional scorers for Maryville included Brady Orr (T-22, 83) and Jay Burgin (T-25, 86).

 

The Hiwassee Fall Invitational will conclude on Tuesday in Oak Ridge.
