Scots looking to improve on first round effort at Wynlakes Invitational

The Maryville College men's golf program participated in the Wynlakes Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Alabama on Monday afternoon.

 

Competing against ten of the top-25 NCAA Division III men's golf programs across the country, the Scots finished the 6,979-yard, par-72 course with a total of 338.

 

The USA South's Huntingdon College finished first overall on day one with a 289, one-over-par team effort. Individually, James Mishoe of Guilford College leads the field with a (-3) 69 on the day. Will Hocker (Webster University) finished in second place with a (-2) 70.

 

The 50-over-par first round score, Maryville's highest team score since beginning the program in 2010, placed MC 15th overall after first round action.

 

Maryville was paced by sophomore Tyler Bray's 79. The seven-over-par effort finished Bray tied for 44th in the field of 83 individuals. Garrett Compliment placed 66th with an 83 while both seniors Wil Manuel and DJ Shelton each posting an 88. Jay Burgin completed the challenging course with a 93.

 

The Scots will attack the Wynlakes Golf and Country Club course early Tuesday morning for the second and final round.
