Manuel leads Scots in second round of USA South Tournament

Maryville College wrapped up the second round of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament, as Wil Manuel led the Scots with a two-over 74 in the second round.

The senior currently sits tied for 25th individually, as his two-over second-day total gives him a seven-over 151 for the tournament. Garrett Compliment carded the Scots' second-best score of the day with a four-over 76, as MC ranks eighth as a squad.

Huntingdon College has taken a commanding lead in the tournament after the second round, as the Hawks hold a 17-shot lead over second-ranked Methodist University. The Hawks have had just two scores over par for the two-day event, as a trio shot 69s on the second day.

Huntingdon sits at 20-under with a 556, while the Monarchs have a three-under 573. North Carolina Wesleyan College ranks thirds with a seven-over 583, while Greensboro College's 591 ranks them fourth at 15 over.

Individually, Huntingdon's Drew Mathers leads the way, as he's posted a two-day total of 136 on the Highland Country Club course. He sits at eight-under, while teammate Stephen Shephard ranks second with back-to-back matching 69s. His six-under 138 is one stroke better than Brevard College's Austin Fisher who has a 139 total.

Methodist's Brantley Phillips ranks fourth with a four-under 140, while fellow Monarch Dan Shepherd sits at 141 in fifth.

In all, 14 golfers have carded par or better 36-hole performances – 10 of those ranking below the 144 par.

Manuel went two-over in the first nine holes of the day, before he carded an even score on the back nine. He leads the way for the Scots at seven-over. Compliment struggled on the back nine for the Scots, going even through the first nine holes. The junior shot a four-over on the back nine to finish day two with a 76.

Tyler Bray posted a 10-over 82, as the sophomore slips to a tie for 28th overall. His two-day score of 152 matches Compliment, while Andy Cofer posted an 11-over 83. He's at 156, while DJ Shelton's second-day 87 leaves hit at 173.
