Scots complete fall season at NCAA Regionals in Rome, Georgia

The Maryville College cross country program completed their fall season at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regionals on the campus of Berry College in Rome, Georgia.

For the women, Maryville's Lea Mulligan finished the 6K in 27:04 in 146th place. Mikala Wooten completed the challenge in 29:08 for a 188th placing. They both took on the course as individuals.  "I know both girls put everything they had into the race and that's all I could ever ask of them," stated Head Cross Country Coach Tyson Murphy. "Their effort and dedication have been consistent throughout the season. Week in and week out I have enjoyed watching them develop."

Coach Tyson Murphy's men finished 31st of 33 teams with an average pace of 31:18. Rhodes College took the team crown with an average time of 26:12. Of the 239 participants, Maryville's Daniel Beckett finished 84th with a 28:05 pace. Ryan Lay finished the season strong with a 30:25 pace and 191st finish. Richard Martin set a personal best with a 31:14 8K placing 208th. Cooper Harrison finished 223rd with a 33:10 effort. Jacob Schramm also set a new personal best with a 33:36, 227th finish.

"I am proud of our team effort for the men," Murphy continued. "We collectively peaked as a team with the fastest 8K average time of the season. The front-runners usually get credit week in and week out, but it was the back half of Harrison and Schramm that really lowered our team time."
