The USA South Athletic Conference has announced their performers of the week and Maryville College's Aly Snider has been named the league's softball rookie of the week for the second time this season.
The freshman designated player from Hampshire, Illinois went a combined 8-for-12 (.667) with a .692 on-base percentage and a 1.083 slugging percentage to go along with four runs scored, six RBI, two doubles, one home run and one walk as the Scots earned a 2-2 record last week versus USA South competition. In a doubleheader split with LaGrange, Snider was a combined 4-for-7 with three runs scored, three RBI, one double, one home run and one walk. In a doubleheader split with Huntingdon, Snider was a combined 4-for-7 with one run scored, three RBI and one double.
The Scots are 15-5 on the season and pacing the USA South western division with a 6-2 league record. Snider is hitting .436 on the season while leading the Scots in doubles (9), RBI (22), and on-base percentage (.508).
Coach Leah Kelley was excited about Aly's performance this weekend. "Aly is having one of the best freshmen years I've seen. She is such a tremendous hitter and her confidence continues to grow daily."
Maryville will prepare to take on USA South foe Covenant College on Wednesday in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Game times are set for 2:00 and 4:00.
