The Maryville College women's golf team improved by four strokes in round two of the Montgomery Country Club Invitational. With rounds of 370-366 Maryville's 36 hole total of 736 gave them 12th place in a field of 12 teams that included many of the top ranked NCAA Division III teams in the country.
Grace Gass led her team in the final round by shooting the Scots best round of the tournament. Her 83 after an opening 90 gave her a 173 total. Alexis Meyer with 87-90=177 was second best for Maryville. Sarah Grace Holland 96-93=189, Heather Ellis 97-100=197 and Elaina Davis 100-106=206 completed the scoring for Maryville.
Number one ranked Rhodes College ran away with the team title. Their 306-297=603 gave them a 17 stroke victory over the host team Huntingdon College.
Rhodes Mackenzie Cohen with rounds of 71-73 took the individual title. Her even par 144 was seven strokes better than teammate Emily Salamy and Taylor Moser of Trinity University who shared second place at 151.
After opening the fall season by playing three tournaments is three weeks, the Scots will have a few weeks off before returning to action on October 15 & 16 when they will play their final event of the fall season at the Jim English Invitational which will be hosted by Centre College at Danville Country Club in Danville, Kentucky.
