Maryville Women Improve by 20 Strokes in Round Two at Callaway Gardens

The Maryville College  women's golf team made a 20 stroke improvement in the second round of the Callaway Invitational.  After an opening round 389 the Scots rebounded with a 369 score in round two for a two day total of 758 and a 13th place finish in an outstanding field of 14 teams.

Freshman Alexis Meyer led the Scots in round two with around of 89.  Her 93-89 and 182 total was good for 69th place individually.  Sarah Grace Holland finished 73rd with rounds of 95-91.  Grace Gass with a 195 total finished 81st.  Heather Ellis totaled 197 and Elaina Davis 202.

The defending national champions Rhodes College came from behind with a tournament low round of 304 in round two.  Their two day total of 618 was seven shots better than the runner up Berry College.

Johanna Beehner of a Methodist University and Sydney Weaver of Berry College shared the individual title with two over par 146 totals.

The Scots next even will be the Tennessee Wesleyan Invitational on March 20-21 at Tennessee National Golf Club in London, Tennessee.
