Sarah Grace Holland named WGCA All-American Scholar

CORAL SPRINGS, Florida (July 5, 2017) – The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars were announced today with a total of 952 women's collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.

Maryville College senior Sarah Grace Holland was named a WGCA All-American scholar after playing in at least a dozen competitive rounds while averaging a 95 or better and maintaining a 3.5 grade point average or better throughout the duration of her collegiate career.

"Sarah Grace has been a really strong leader both on the golf course and in the classroom. She has excelled at the highest level," stated Maryville College Head Women's Golf Coach Mandy Hammonds. "As a coach there is nothing more that you could ask in a player than the attitude, leadership, talent, and work ethic that Sarah Grace displayed. We are really going to miss her next year. We wish her the best in her future. She will make a wonderful teacher." 

Holland's senior season was full of highlights on the golf course. Sarah Grace shot a 95-88 (183) at the Birmingham Southern Shootout in September. She finished 29th at the Tennessee Wesleyan Women's Fall Invitational at the Springbrook Golf Club in Niota, Tennessee with a 95-87 (182). Holland shot a 96-93 (189) at the Montgomery Country Club Invitational during the fall. At the Jim English Invitational hosted by Centre College Sarah Grace finished 26th with a 89-87 (176). In the spring, she tallied a 95-91(186) at the Callaway Gardens Invitational. The Rome, Georgia native saved the best round of her career for last while leading the Maryville Scots to a new 18-hole school record at the Cumberland University Phoenix Invitational. Holland's ten over par 82 was the best round of her career by three strokes and led her team to a new mark of 347 for 18 holes.
