The Maryville College women's golf program finished 14th at the Chick-Fil-A Invitational at Coosa Country Club in Rome, Georgia on Tuesday afternoon.
Tournament host Berry College took the team title with rounds of 309-300 (609). Methodist University was 13-shots off the pace with a 625 to finish second.
Individually, Methodist's Johnna Beehner posted a 74-70 (144) completing the par-72 course even with a par performance after posting a two-under-par 70 on the final day.
Maryville's top finisher was Katelyn Witucki. Witucki was leading the tournament after the first five holes. She finished 52nd with an 86-87 (173). Elaina Davis netted a 66th place finish with a 95-92 (187). Katelyn Curtis and McCall Smallwood tallied a 217 and 242 respectively.
The Scots' team beat their opening round of 417 by 15 strokes in the second-round finishing with a 417-402 (819).
"Coosa Country Club was a tough course and the combination of rain and wind was a tough battle for our squad over the past two rounds," stated MC's Women's Golf Coach Mandy Hammonds. "We are making strides towards improving each time we step on a course."
Maryville will host the Maryville College Fall Invitational at Egwani Farms Golf Course on October 30-31.
