Katelyn Witucki sets a pair of school standards at Hiwassee Fall Invitational

The Maryville College Women's Golf squad completed the first round of the Hiwassee Fall Invitational on Monday afternoon, as Katelyn Witucki becomes only the third MC golfer in program history to record a round below 80.

The sophomore from Seymour, Tennessee blistered the 5,855 yard, par-72 Oak Ridge Country Club course with a 78, only six over par in the first round.

Witucki's 78 ties the lowest round in school history tying Sarah Edmiston.

Teammate Hannah Doherty posted a 94 to conclude the first-round action.

The pair is playing as individuals throughout the tournament challenge.

Head women's golf coach Jason Henderson had this to say about Katelyn's effort on Monday. "The course seemed to suit her style of play very well today. She made a couple early birdies putting her at 18 for her career establishing a new school record. I think she is going to take the confidence gained off today's round and conclude the tournament and fall season playing her best golf yet."

The Hiwassee Fall Invitational will conclude on Tuesday in Oak Ridge.
