Scots finish first round at BSC Southern Shootout in 10th place

The Maryville College women's golf team finished the first round of the Birmingham Southern College Southern Shootout in 10th place after attacking the Par 72, 5,802-yard course in Bessemer, Alabama with a 445 team effort.

 

Oglethorpe University holds the team advantage with a plus-26, 314 after the first 18 holes. Huntingdon College's Vanessa Leiterman tallied a 73 to lead the pace going into the second round.

 

The Scots' top scorer was Katelyn Witucki. The sophomore finished the first round in 47th place with a 14-over-par 86. Maryville had three additional scorers that included Grace Gass (T-56th, 101), McCall Smallwood (59th, 128), and Kaysi Royston (60th, 130).

 

Maryville will attack the Bent Brook Golf Course on Tuesday with aspirations to climb the team and individual leaderboards.
