Majors claim match over MC in five-set thriller

The Maryville College volleyball team fell to 1-2 on the season after a late comeback was thwarted in a fifth set thriller. Millsaps College rallied in the final set to defeat the Scots 3-2 by the scores of 24-26, 25-14, 25-21, 14-25, and 17-15.

 

The Scots were paced at the net by Brianne Sidner's 10 kills. Julia Vineyard added seven kills with Kori Jacot and Kelley Wandell each contributing six kills. Taylor Youell and Madison Smith directed the offensive attack with 19 and 12 assists respectively. On defense, Kaitlyn Flickinger posted a team-high 18 digs with Allison Botts returning 14 attacks. Mackenzie Marcum added 13 digs in the loss.

 

Millsaps was paced by Morgan Vincent and Erica Bennett who combined for 26 kills on the afternoon.

 

Maryville will conclude their action in the Berry College Invitational this afternoon at 3:30 in Rome, Georgia against tournament host Berry College.
