After the Scots' thrilling come-from-behind victory over Piedmont College on Saturday, Maryville was able to earn the USA South sweep with a 3-0 win over Huntingdon College.
MC won the match in straight sets, 25-13, 25-17, 25-22.
The Scots were led by Nia Haller, as the senior tallied a double-double. She hit .588 for the match with 10 kills, 15 digs, two blocks, one assist and an ace.
Huntingdon would cut the score to 14-8 before the Scots would use a 11-5 run to end the match. Arin Wyttenback, Allison Botts, Dejane Hester-Taylor and Tyldesley would add kills on the run, while Taylor Youell added an ace in the 25-13 win.
MC and Huntingdon would play to a 7-7 tie in the second set, before the Scots would take control with a 6-0 run. The rally was fueled by Tyldesley and Haller, as they would extend it to an 18-10 lead.
Huntingdon would make a run of their own, before a Wyttenbach kill and an assisted block from Hester-Taylor and Madison Wilkerson would end the set, 25-17.
The USA South foes would trade points in the third set to a 15-15 score. Huntingdon would jump out to an 18-16 lead on a pair of Amy Tyma kills, before Maryville would rally.
The Scots scored seven of the next eight, as Wilkerson and Wandell added kills for a 23-19 lead. The Hawks would rally again, before kills from Botts and Hester-Taylor would end the match, 25-22.
Maryville (10-9, 4-1 USA South) was led by Haller's performance. Tyldesley added nine kills, while Hester-Taylor tallied five kills, four digs and a block. Saidee McDaniel had 15 assists, nine digs and three aces, while Youell added 12 assists, six digs, a kill and an ace.
Kaitlyn Flickinger had 16 digs to lead Maryville defensively.
For Huntingdon (12-12, 3-2), it was Emily Fedonczak and Tyma with eight kills each. Kaitlyn Carter had 14 assist to Devyn Stringer's 12, as Tyma had 13 digs. Bria Rochelle added 10 of her own.
Maryville will host a pair of mid-week contests against USA South foe Covenant College and Emory & Henry College. The Battle of the Scots is set for Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m., before taking on the Wasps at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12.
