Cory Felts selected to assist Scots' volleyball program

Maryville College Director of Athletics and Head Volleyball Coach Kandis Schram has announced that Cory Felts will join her staff as an assistant volleyball coach beginning this spring.

Following a seven-year professional beach volleyball career as a player (1992-1998) where he earned over 25 men's open tournament victories, Felts attained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee in 2001.

Since 2009 Felts has been a master level coach at K2 Volleyball Club in Louisville, Tennessee. He has been instrumental in player and skill development for the past nine years.

In 2013 Felts took over the reins of Berean Christian High School. He led the Eagles to five consecutive district titles and four consecutive trips to the sub-state. In 2017 his squad earned a state championship, the first state title ever earned by the school.

"I am excited about the energy, experience, and enthusiasm that Cory will bring to our program," stated Coach Schram. "His ability as a master coach to develop our student-athletes on and off the court will hopefully elevate our program to the next level."

Kristin Henderson will remain on Coach Schram's staff as a volunteer coach.

Maryville will have non-traditional workouts this spring with aspirations of a strong start next August when they travel to the Emory University Invitational to kick off the 2018-19 season on August 31st in Atlanta, Georgia.
