Maryville College's Meredith Bonee earned her first career conference accolade, as the freshman earned USA South Rookie of the Week honors.
The Knoxville, Tenn. native had a huge week for the Scots, tallying both a triple-double and a double-double in leading the Scots to their first two wins of the year. Maryville posted a 2-1 record, as she had a trio of complete games on the week.
"Meredith is an exciting player to have on our roster," Head Coach Kandis Schram said. "She has a strong lineage of volleyball, coming from a strong high school and club. We just know that her volleyball IQ is going to elevate our team, and seeing her honored in this way is a kudos to how hard she works at the game and what is to come."
The Knoxville Catholic High School product totaled 69 assists, 33 digs, 24 kills, nine aces and three blocks in a trio of matches for the Scots.
Bonee hit .152 for the week, while averaging 5.31 assists per set.
"She's a solid all-around player, but what is exciting is that she knows she still has a lot to learn," Schram said. "She's eager to move that needle. Her best ball is yet to come."
The first-year Scots had her biggest match of her short career in Friday's 3-1 loss to Rhodes College, recording a triple-double. Bonee had 23 assists, 14 digs and 11 kills in the four-set match, while hitting .308. She also added a block in the contest.
In MC's second match of the day on Friday, Bonee added 21 assists, six kills, six digs, four service aces and a block in the match. The freshman led MC to the program's first win of 2018, 3-1, over Salem College.

Maryville faced a 2-1 deficit to Lynchburg College, before the freshman aided in winning the final two sets for a 3-2 victory over the Hornets.
In the Bonee's six-match career, she has recorded 114 assists, 61 digs, 42 kills, nine service aces and four blocks. Bonee averages 4.56 assists per set, 2.44 digs per set and 1.68 kills per set on the 2018 season, as she's recorded nearly 10 points per match with 53 total points.
