Scots sweep Huntingdon to advance to USA South Semifinals

The Maryville College volleyball team advanced to the USA South Tournament semi-finals with a 3-0 sweep of quarterfinal host Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama late Tuesday evening.

 

The Scots defeated the Hawks 25-16, 25-21, and 25-18 to advance in the league post-season tournament.

 

Meredith Bonee directed an efficient offense with a match-high 16 assists. Brianne Sidner was a consistent target with a match-high 10 kills. Madison Wilkerson (6 kills) and Lauren Espinal (5 kills) added to the MC attack.

 

The Scots posted 10 service aces with Bonee finishing with three while Sidner, Allison Botts, and Yasmeen Chan each recorded a pair of aces.

 

Defensively, Sidner completed her double-double performance with a team-high 13 digs. Bonee added nine returns.

 

The complete team effort will advance Maryville to the USA South final four in Raleigh, North Carolina beginning Friday, November 2nd. Meredith College will be the tournament host as they are the highest remaining seed. Meredith, Piedmont, and William Peace will join the Scots in a final quest for the league tournament title.
