Scots end league tournament run with 3-1 loss to Meredith

The Maryville College women's volleyball season came to a close on Friday evening in Raleigh, North Carolina when Meredith College defeated the Scots 3-1 in the 2018 USA South Volleyball Tournament semifinals.

 

The Avenging Angels, the tournament host, and No. 1 USA South Eastern Division seed topped Maryville 28-26, 25-19, 24-26, and 25-23.

 

MC fought hard to advance behind Brianne Sidner's double-double of 13 kills and 10 digs. The 13 kills were a team-high performance. Dejane Hester-Taylor tallied nine kills and three assisted blocks at the net while Meredith Bonee finished with eight kills, 18 assists, and seven digs. Bonee and Taylor Youell directed the offense with Youell also posting 18 assists and 11 digs for a double-double of her own.

 

Meredith (22-4) was paced by Caroline Corey's match-high 17 kills. Cathy Delano added a dozen kills while Avery Bowman recorded 34 assists.

 

Maryville ends their season 18-10 overall.

 

Meredith advances to the 2018 USA South Volleyball tournament championship match on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. against Piedmont College.
