Guillaume paces Scots at Furman Invitational

The Maryville College cross country programs participated in the Gene Mullin Invitational meet on October 10th on the campus of Furman University. The MC men placed 9th while the women finished in 11th on the afternoon.

 

The men's 5K was won by Furman's Mark Hadley with a time of 15:32. Maryville's Sean Hagstrom was the top NCAA Division III runner of the day with a 42nd place finish on a 17:28 pace. The Scots' Andrew Trotter finished 62nd of the 87 runners in a time of 18:41 while Johnathan Gorenflo finished 72nd in 19:31.

 

The 74 runner women's 5K was won by Furman's Laura Miller in a time of 18:25. Piedmont's Reese Bowles was the top NCAA Division III runner, 20th overall,  with a time of 21:05. Maryville's Emily Guillaume finished 32nd with a pace of 21:51. Additional Scots finishing the race in under 26-minutes were: June Rosenbarker (53rd, 23:32), Chandler Chastain (59th, 24:16), Makayla May (62nd, 24:42), Carter Dickinson (63rd, 24:49), and Molly Ridgeway (66th, 25:10).

 

The Maryville program, under the direction of Tyson Murphy, will now prepare for the Berry College Invitational on October 17th.
