The Maryville College cross country program ran at the Berry College Invitational in Rome, Georgia on Saturday morning. The women finished 12th out of 15 collegiate squads while the MC men finished 12th of 13 institutions.
The women's 6K was claimed by Young Harris' Nancy Murgor in a time of 22:08. Emory University earned the team title with an average time of 23:29. Maryville's Emily Guillaume finished 47th out of a 136 runner race with a time of 26:00. The Scots' June Rosenbarker finished just five spots behind Guillaume with a 26:04 pace. Additional standout runners for Maryville included: Chandler Chastian (83rd, 27:33), Makayla May (89th, 28:05), and Molly Ridgeway (102nd, 28:55). MC's women's average time was 27:19.
The men's 8K individual title went to Young Harris' Mathew Biwott in a time of 25:56. Berry College claimed the individual crown with an average time of 26:55. Maryville's Sean Hagstrom completed the course in 28th place with a pace of 27:54. Andrew Trotter finished 61st in a time of 29:19. The Scots' average time was 32:06 for the 12th place finish.
Maryville will now prepare for the USA South Championship meet in Greensboro, North Carolina next Saturday.
