Maryville women place third at MC Invitational

The Maryville College women's cross country program hosted the MC Invitational on Saturday morning on a new course on the MC campus.

 

NCAA Division II school Carson Newman University took top team honors with an average time of 26:43 while Covenant College finished second (27:09) and Maryville rounded out the top three with an average time of 29:28.

Individually, Covenant's Lilly Smith paced the 44 runner field with a time of 25:20. Johnson University's Morgan Hume placed second (25:32) and Carson-Newman's Hannah Green rounded out the top three finishers (26:07).

 

Maryville's top finisher was Susanna Cook in sixth place. The freshman from Tellico Plains averaged a 7:08 mile pace with an overall time of 26:38. Sarah McFann, a freshman from Ironton, Ohio, finished the course in 28:42 for an 18th place mark. Additional Scots scorers included: Chandler Chastain (23rd-29:36), Mikala Wooten (24th-29:49), Annemarie McDurmon (34th-32:37), Molly Ridgeway (35th-32:47), and Erin Dupes (43rd-39:22).

The Scots will now prepare for the Piedmont College Invitational in Demorest, Georgia on October 8th.
