With seven runners finishing with personal or seasonal best efforts, the Maryville College women's cross country team finished 5th in the 2017 USA South Championship meet in Tallulah Falls, Georgia hosted by Piedmont College.
The Scots' lead runner was sophomore Susanna Cook. The Tellico Plains, Tennessee native posted a new personal record run with a 24:32 6K for an 13th place finish.
The 125 conference runners were paced by Methodist University's Lindsey Prichard's 22:49 individual time. Berea College earned the team with an average time of 24:08.
Helping Maryville finish 5th of 15 teams overall was Taylor Williams (25:16-24th), Kaitlyn Carringer (25:58-30th), Lea Mulligan (26:42-43rd), Maddie Zawisza (27:26-51st), Chandler Chastain (28:17-59th), Anne Marie McDurmon (35:52), and Erin Dupes (36:13).
Joining Cook with new personal record efforts were Williams, Carringer, and Zawisza. Chastain, Dupes, and McDurmon each put forth seasonal best efforts.
The Scots will now prepare for NCAA regionals on November 11th in Newport News, Virginia.
