Strong running by Cook, Mulligan lift Scots to a third place finish at Mountain Top Invitational

The Maryville College women's cross country team opened the 2018 season at the Covenant College Mountain Top Invitational on Friday evening. Covenant College, with a team average time of 13:10.42 during the two-mile challenge, claimed the team title. Maryville finished third in a four-team challenge with an average squad time of 16:48.09.

 

Covenant's Lilly Smith earned the individual title with a time of 12:42.68. Maryville's top performer was Susanna Cook. Cook finished 9th in the field of 42 runners with a time of 13:57.26. Leah Mulligan was just on Cook's heals finishing 11th with a time of 14:14.28.

 

Additional finishers for MC include: Kaitlyn Carringer (25th, 16:02.85), Mikala Wooten (27th, 16:14.64), Kennedy Hardnett (41st, 23:31.42), and Anne Marie McDurmon (42nd, 23:32.98).

 

Head Coach Tyson Murphy will prepare his squad for the Tusculum College Invitational on Friday, September 7th in Greeneville, Tennessee.
