Cook, Mulligan lead Scots to 8th-place finish at Tusculum

The Maryville College Women's Cross-Country team posted an eighth-place finish on Friday night, as the Scots took part in the Zaxby's Open hosted by Tusculum University.

Maryville posted an average time of 28:23.24 on the day, as Susanna Cook led MC on the 5K course.

Cook placed 21st in the race with a time of 22:17.7. Lea Mulligan ranked second for the Scots' squad with a 28th-place ranking, as she posted a time of 22:49.3.

Milligan College won the race with an average time of 21:17.9. North Greenville ranked second, as King University placed third.

Freshman Gabrielle Mardis won the race individually. The Milligan College harrier finished the race in 20:21.5, as King's Kirstin Barton placed second. Avery DeWolf of Milligan – also a freshman – took third.

Maryville's Mikala Wooten ranked 58th in the run with a time of 26:10.9, as Rebecca Starks placed 78th.

Starks had a time of 32.10.3, while Kennedy Hardnett placed 80th in the Tusculum race.

Maryville College will travel to Berea, Ky. next Saturday, Sept. 15, as they take part in the Berea College Invitational.
