Scots finish 6th at Berea Invitational;Cook runs to a 19th place finish

The Maryville College women's cross country program participated in an 5K challenge in Berea, Kentucky on Saturday afternoon. The Scots completed the Mike and Mary Kay Invitational in an average time of 24:47 placing 6th among 11 participating institutions.

 

Covenant College claimed the team title with an average time of 20:40. Individually, Covenant's Lilly Smith crossed the finish line first with a time of 19:41.

 

Maryville's top performer was junior runner Susanna Cook. The Tellico Plains, Tennessee native finished 19th among over 87 participants with a time of 21:55. Lea Mulligan finished 34 with a time of 23:11 while Kaitlyn Carringer set a 24:56 pace for a 47th place finish.

 

Additional Scots finishers included: Mikala Wooten (52nd, 25:49), and Rebecca Starks (65th, 28:03).

 

"We had some personal and season best times today," stated Maryville College Head Cross Country Coach Tyson Murphy. "We had several athletes overcome many obstacles and we are very proud of their output."

 

Maryville will now prepare to host the Maryville College Invitational on campus Saturday, September 29th.
