Mulligan, Cook lead Scots to sixth in MC Invitational

Maryville College raced to a sixth-place finish on Saturday morning, as the Scots hosted the Maryville College Invitational.

MC held the race on the same course that is set to be run for the USA South Athletic Conference Championship later this fall. The Scots finished the longer race with an average time of 30:48.

The Orange and Garnet was led individually by Lea Mulligan's 13th-place finish. Mulligan finished the wet and foggy course in 26:36.6, while Susanna Cook finished 17th individually. Cook posted a time of 27:04.7.

Individually, Covenant College's Lilly Smith won the meet individually in a time of 23:09.9. Methodist University's Makayla Lawler and Lindsey Pritchard took second and third overall.

Covenant College won the Maryville College Invitational, placing six runners within the Top 10 individually. They scored 26 points, while Meredith College ranked second with 73 total points.

Maryville finished just one point shy of fifth place with 140 total points.

MC's Kaitlyn Carringer placed 38th overall with 29:07.2, while Mikala Wooten ranked 46th with a time of 30:07.8. Kennedy Hardnett had a time of 41:43.9, while Annemarie McDurmon ran a 42:33.3 on the 6K course.

Maryville will have a week off before traveling to Rome, Ga. for a meet at Berry College. The Berry College Invitational is set for Oct. 13.
