The Maryville College baseball team dropped the rubber match of a key three-game series with North Carolina Wesleyan College by the score of 10-6 on Sunday afternoon on MC's Scotland Yard.
Maryville got on the scoreboard in their first at bat when Hollingsworth singled and stole second base. A sacrifice bunt put Hollingsworth 90-feet away before Jake Petersen directed a perfectly placed bunt single for the games first RBI.
A two-out opposite field double by Alec Titmus put the Bishops up 2-1 in the second inning scoring Nate Gardner and Caleb Narron.
The Scots evened the score in the third exactly how they scored in the first. Hollingsworth dashed home on a Petersen RBI bunt single down the first base line.
A pair of two-out singles by Max Johnson and Brad Pennington gave the Bishops a 4-2 advantage in the fourth.
A two-out wild pitch followed by a single by NC Wesleyan's Titmus pushed the visitor's lead to 6-2 in the fifth.
Wesleyan tacked on a pair of runs in the sixth with RBI singles by Trey Croom and Caleb Narron.
The Bishops took advantage of a pair of Maryville miscues in the ninth adding two runs to make the score 10-6.
Seven MC hurlers combined to give up 14 hits and six earned runs while the Scots' defense committed five errors in the loss.
Maryville (9-2, 1-2 USA South) will host Spaulding University on Tuesday for a non-conference challenge on Scotland Yard. First pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m.
