Sean Jones will begin his fourth season as a Scots’ assistant in 2019-20. Jones recently attained his Master’s Degree in Sports and Recreation Leadership from James Madison University after receiving his undergraduate degree in communications from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2013.
Upon graduation from UT Chattanooga, Jones served as a media relations intern within the Southern Conference in Spartanburg, South Carolina. While attaining his secondary degree at James Madison, he served as an athletic development graduate assistant. After providing administrative support to the Duke's athletic program, Sean felt the desire to get into the trenches and coach. He served as the assistant men’s basketball coach at NCAA Division III Bridgewater College developing under Eagle’s head coach Shawn Postiglione during the 2015-2016 season.
Jones helped the Scots claim a USA South regular season title in 2016-17 with a 20-7 overall mark while going 9-5 in league challenges. His development of players helped MC earn the 2017-18 and 2018-19 USA South regular season and tournament crowns while accepting the program's 19th and 20th NCAA post-season tournament bids.
Coach Jones and his wife, Layne, reside in Maryville.
