Manuel records his eighth career Eagle in leading Scots to a fourth-place finish in the Royal Lakes Fall Invitational

Maryville College finished the Royal Lakes Fall Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, as the Scots claimed their highest finish they ever have on the Flowery Branch, Ga. course.

Maryville posted a 13-over 589 for the two-day event, as the Scots ranked tied for fourth tournament.

The Scots were led on the day by Wil Manuel, as they senior extended his Maryville College record for career Eagles.

The Chattanooga, Tenn. native Eagled the par-5, 496-yard third hole for the eighth of his career. The Chattanooga Christian product extended his lead to three in the career Eagles list, as only he and All-American Trey Bridwell have five or more career Eagles.

Manuel also becomes Maryville's first golfer to record at least one Eagle in all four years of their collegiate career in the Orange and Garnet.

Maryville shot a nine-over 297 on the second day of the tournament, as Manuel led the way for the Scots. He finished the tournament ranked tied for 14th with a one-over 145. He finished the second round with an even-par 72 to lead the Scots in the second round.

Individually, Oglethorpe University's Jacob Arnett claimed top honors with an eight-under 136. Tyler Newton of York College (Pa.) ranked second in the two-day tournament with a five-under 139, while Sewanee's Tommy Oliver took third with a three-under 141.

Babson College and Greensboro College tied for first in the Royal Lakes Fall Invitational, as both squads shot matching eight-over 584s. Hampden-Sydney College ranked third with 11-over 587, as Maryville College, McDaniel College and York College (Pa.) tied for fourth with 13-over.

MC's Hunter DeSena scored a two-over 146, as he ranked tied for 17th. The sophomore held a two-over 74 on the second day, while scoring an even-par 72 in the opening round.

Tyler Bray tied for 19th with a three-over 147, after the sophomore also scored an even-par mark following the opening round. Bray shot a three-over 75 on day two, as Garrett Compliment ranked tied for 44th with a 151.

Andy Cofer was tied for 87th, as he posted a score of 161.

Maryville will have a few weeks off, before the Scots travel to Rome, Ga. The Scots will take part in the Chic-Fil-A Invitational on the Stonebridge Golf Course on Oct. 22-23.
