Dunlap, Duncan pace Scots at Royal Lakes Invitational

The Maryville College men's golf program finished the first round at the 2019 Royal Lakes Invitational in 10th place among 18 NCAA Division III institutions in Flowery Branch, Georgia on Monday afternoon.

The Scots attacked the 6,826-yard, par-72 course in 294 strokes, just 16 shots off the 278-team pace set by tournament leader Hampden-Sydney College.

Guilford College's Addison Manring leads individual honors with a six under-par 66 effort. Twenty-one golfers posted sub-par scores including a pair of Maryville linksters.

The Scots' top performer was Jacob Dunlap. His two under-par 70 was good enough for 14th place going into the closing round on Tuesday. Maryville's Jake Duncan posted a 71 to place 19th among 101 participants.

Brady Orr finished the initial round with a 76 while Garrett Compliment tallied a 77. Andy Cofer finished MC's group with an 86.

The tournament hosted by Oglethorpe University will conclude on Tuesday afternoon.
