The Maryville College men's soccer defense posted a shutout while Austin Vinyard and Milan Card deposited goals to lift the Scots past USA South foe Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, North Carolina on Saturday afternoon.
The match played to a stalemate throughout the first half with each team posting a trio of shots.
As the clock wound down, Maryville tacked on an insurance goal in the 70th minute. Milan Card placed his second goal of the season, unassisted, into the back of the net.
MC's Ryan Jorgensen earned the shutout in net for the Scots. Pfeiffer attacked only six times throughout the match with no strikes on goal.
Maryville finished the challenge with 10 shots. Vinyard and Card paced the offense with three shots apiece. Each of their only attacks on goal hit paydirt.
The loss moves Pfeiffer to 4-6 on the season while Maryville climbs to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in USA South play.
The Scots will now prepare for a key South Region, non-conference match on Tuesday, October 9th when they travel to Atlanta to challenge Emory University.
