The Maryville College softball team fell to 3-15 on the season after the Avenging Angels of Meredith College swept the Lady Scots 2-0 and 9-0 in a key USA South challenge in Raleigh, North Carolina on Saturday.
In the first game, Maryville and Meredith battled to a scoreless tie through five complete innings. In the home half of the sixth, Meredith's Amanda White connected for a two-run homerun to give the Angels the victory. Kayla Aloisi scattered seven hits in a complete game effort, but suffered the loss on the mound for the Scots. Maryville's five hit attack was supported by Taylor Dockery and Jennie Burks who each tallied a pair of hits off Angel hurler Amanda Beirne.
