The Maryville College softball team advanced to 7-4 on the season after sweeping the final day of the Raleigh Invitational with wins over Roanoke College 4-3 and Pfeiffer University 11-2.

In the tournament finale, Maryville run ruled Pfeiffer University 11-2. The Falcons were ranked as high as No. 10 nationally in the NCAA Division II last season before transitioning to the NCAA Division III.
Maryville's Morgan Corland faced 21 batters and scattered only six hits in five complete innings of work. She struck out three and only allowed a pair of runs on a two-run homerun in the fourth inning.
Maryville put up eight runs in the third inning. Christen Torres deposited a grand slam over the left field fence before Essence Strambler and Rachel Taylor each added a single and double respectively for a pair of RBI each.
"I am proud of the competitiveness my team showed today," stated MC Head Softball Coach Leah Kelley. "We played our best all-around softball today and I really enjoy watching my team compete."
Maryville will now prepare to travel to Berry College on Tuesday for a non-conference double header.
