MARYVILLE, TENN. – Charity Crabtree, a senior at Clarkrange High School in Jamestown, Tennessee, has committed to continue her academic and basketball careers at Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee.
Crabtree, a 5-foot-10 guard/forward, finished her senior season leading the Buffaloes while developing under Coach Lamar Rogers. This three-time All-District performer excelled in the post-season earning All-District Tournament honors twice, All-Regional Tournament honors three times and was named to the All-State Tournament Team in 2017.
"Charity is an excellent addition to our team. She has all the skills to be a successful four or five in our program, as she is adept at finishing inside as well as knocking down shots from the perimeter," stated Maryville College Head Women's Basketball Coach Darrin Travillian. "We are also excited about her ability to defend posts and compete for rebounds in traffic. Charity has a chance to make an impact on our program right away, and we are extremely excited about having the opportunity to coach her this fall."
Charity is the daughter of Anthony and Regina Stephens. She will major in exercise science while minoring in business at Maryville. Charity stated, "I chose Maryville College because it had the programs that I wanted and was the perfect size while being close to home. I love the competitiveness and the drive to succeed that I saw within the program."
She joins a Maryville College women's basketball program that has captured five of the last six USA South regular season western division titles, claiming the league tournament in 2015-16. Head Coach Darrin Travillian has posted a 180-47 career record with the Scots over the past eight seasons. The program has had 22 appearances in the NCAA post-season, five led by Travillian.
