Complete team effort lifts Scots past Wesleyan 94-25

Shelby Hix deposited 17 points and Delaney Lowery dropped 15 to help the Maryville College Scots defeat USA South Athletic Conference opponent Wesleyan College (Ga.) 94-25 in Macon, Georgia on Saturday afternoon.


Maryville reserves, including Hix and Lowery, combined for 48 bench points while helping the Scots finish shooting 51% from the floor (37-for-73) including a 14-for-34 (41%) effort from beyond the arc. MC's defense recorded 21 steals and the Scots outrebounded the Wolves 52-22.


Wesleyan (0-22, 0-13 USA South) combined for a 21% shooting effort (9-for-44). They were paced by Marilynn Nesmith's 15 points on 6-of-18 shooting.


Maryville (11-11, 9-4 USA South) saw Hix go 7-for-10 from the floor for a game-high 17 points while grabbing nine rebounds. Lowery's 15 points were on 6-of-9 shooting including a pair of treys. Catherine Upshaw tallied 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting while Elsa Eckenrod finished with a double-double of 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds while dishing out a game-high six assists.


The Scots will complete their league road trip this weekend with a challenge in LaGrange, Georgia on Sunday. Tip-off against the Panthers is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
