The Maryville College women's golf program earned an 8th place finish at the Tennessee Wesleyan University Invitational at Springbrook Country Club in Niota, Tennessee on Tuesday evening.
Savannah College of Art and Design-Atlanta claimed the team title with rounds of 328 and 314 for a 642, 66-over par performance. Maryville completed the par-72 round, 5,817-yard course with a 373 and 363 for a 736, +160 effort.
Micaa' Thomas from SCAD-Atlanta and Taylor Williams from Bryan College shared individual honors with rounds of 78 and 76 for a 154, 10-over par performance. Maryville's top performer was sophomore standout, Katelyn Witucki. The Seymour, Tennessee native shot an opening round of 88 before finishing with an 80 for a 168, +24 two-day total placing 15th overall. Witucki posted 16 par efforts while adding a birdie to her career total.
The Scots' Grace Wischmeyer finished 35th with an opening round of 93 before finishing the tournament with a second round of 87. The freshman from Blairsville, Tennessee tallied a trio of birdies for her 180 total during the two-day event.
MC's Elaina Davis improved nine strokes from her first-round effort of 99, finishing with a round of 90 for a 41st place finish with a 189. The junior from St. Cloud, Florida also posted a birdie during the second team challenge of the season.
Maryville will now prepare to host the Maryville College Invitational on October 15-16 at Green Meadow Country Club in Alcoa, Tennessee.
