Reagan's Hat-Trick helps Scots claim USA South regular season title with 8-0 win over LaGrange

The Maryville College women's soccer team claimed a share of the USA South overall regular season title with an 8-0 shutout victory against LaGrange College on Saturday evening on MC's home pitch.


As the regular season schedule came to an end, the Scots used a hat-trick by sophomore Shannon Reagan to power past the Panthers.


Just before the 4th minute, Reagan collected a pass from Miranda Lukas for her 14th goal of her first season in the orange and garnet.


At the 5:25 mark, Reagan collected her 15th goal on an unassisted blast.


Just before the 22nd minute, Reagan found Hannah Clothier who soon deposited her 5th goal of the season.


MC closed out the first half scoring when Jenna Clothier found Caitlin Kenney for her 1st goal of the season to give the Scots a commanding 4-0 lead at the half.


At the intermission, Maryville outshot the Panthers 20-1 with LaGrange keeper DeAundra Green recording five saves.


Reagan completed her hat-trick at the 63:13 mark when she took an Abbie Anderson pass and connected with the net for her team-leading 16th goal of the season.


Just after the 64th minute, Jenna Clothier touched a pass to Hannah Clothier for Hannah's 6th goal of the season.


In the 77th minute, Maryville made the score 7-0 when Yarissa Castro dropped a pass to Lindsey Lewallan to help the freshman to tally her 2nd goal of the season.


The Scots concluded their scoring when Yarissa Castro trapped an Emilie Boone pass a directed her 4th goal of the season to give MC the 8-0 win.


MC's Rachel Taylor earned the victory in net, sharing the shutout with Spencer Ann Mitchell.


The win moves Maryville to 13-2-2 on the season overall and 6-0-1 in USA South play. The Scots will share overall title honors with Piedmont College after the Lions went 15-0-3 overall and an identical 6-0-1 in league play.


The USA South tournament will begin on Wednesday, October 25th but the Scots will receive a first-round bye. MC is awaiting final league word but should host a second-round matchup on Saturday, October 28th.
