The Maryville College women's soccer program dropped a tough road match at Roanoke College on Sunday evening by the score of 2-0 in a weather shortened challenge.
Roanoke's Lucy Perry directed a cross in the 17th minute to Tori Young who caught the bottom right of the goal just past MC keeper Abbey Coleman to put the host Maroons up 1-0.
Just two minutes after the second half began Jillian Barnard placed a corner kick into the box where Lucy Perry headed a goal to double Roanoke's advantage.
The match went into a lightening delay for over 90 minutes before both squads returned to the field. Mother Nature would not cooperate and the match was stopped with 17:21 remaining on the clock.
Roanoke outshot the Scots 10-5 directing six shots on goal. Maryville's Abbey Coleman recorded four saves while Chris Martin earned the win in net for Roanoke (1-0-1). Bailey Sipos paced Maryville in attacks with a pair of shots.
Maryville (0-2-0) will return to action on Wednesday for their home opener as they host Tennessee Wesleyan University at 7:00 p.m.
