Maryville College's Bailey Sipos earned USA South Player of the Week honors, as the sophomore forward helped the Scots to a 4-1 record with her fourth collegiate hat trick.
Sipos – a sophomore – scored her second hat trick of the 2018 campaign, as she ranks eighth all-time in the Maryville College record books with four career three-goal matches.
"That's pretty special when you think about the goal scorers that we have had here," Head Coach Pepe Fernandez said. "All-American Julie Dingels and Jessica Petersen – people like that that played up front. For her to already be in that talk as a sophomore is pretty impressive."
Petersen and Dingels lead the MC record books with career hat tricks. Petersen has nine career hat tricks, while Dingels – the Scots' only All-American – recorded eight in her tenure.
On the week, Sipos had four goals in just three matches for Maryville, as she led the Scots to a 3-0 record against USA South Athletic Conference competition.
In a wet and soggy 4-1 win over Berea College, Sipos was held to seven shots with a pair on goal, as the Mountaineers kept her at bay.
However, in a 4-0 shutout over Huntingdon College on Saturday, Sipos made each of her three shots for the match count, as she recorded the hat trick.
Sipos scored the eventual game-winner in just the third minute. She scored the first goal unassisted, before taking an assist from Lexie Hill in the sixth minute for a 2-0 lead.
"She was sick a little bit last week early in the week, and she was not herself for a couple of games," Fernandez said. "This weekend, she was phenomenal. She got open twice and score two really good goals, which allowed us to rest our team. Then, she came right back out after halftime and scored another one. What was good about it was that she had a great individual effort, but it was a great team effort. She was a part of that team effort. At times, we've had girls that all we have done is worry about getting the ball to them to carry the team. But, with her, it was a great team effort this weekend."
Sipos would complete the hat trick in the 62nd minute with her second unassisted goal of the match.
Finally, in a 4-1 win over Agnes Scott, the sophomore would notch her 10th goal of the season and her 25th of her career. In the 12th minute, she took a cross from Shannon Reagan, depositing it to equalize things at 1-1.
On the year, this Knoxville, Tenn. native has 10 goals and a pair of assists. She's had 57 shots with 27 of those finding frame for a .474 shots on goal percentage. Sipos is averaging a goal a match, as she has a pair of game-winning scores in 2018.
In this Hardin Valley Academy's two-year career, she has 25 goals and five assists. Sipos has 55 career points, as 73 of her 131 shots have been on goal. She has six career game-winners.
Sipos will look to lead the Scots this week, as Maryville plays host to Covenant College on Wednesday, Oct. 3. First touch for the USA South match is slated for 7:00 p.m.
