Reagan's hat-trick highlights MC's 9-0 win over Averett

The Maryville College women's soccer program earned a 9-0 victory over Averett University in Danville, Virginia on Sunday evening.

At the 6:20 mark of the first half, senior forward Shannon Reagan beat her defender down the left side and dribbled into the goalie crease before blasting a right-footed strike into the center of the net for her third goal of the season and the 27th score of her career.

Just before the 11th minute, a Jenna Clothier corner kick was headed by Hannah Clothier off the crossbar. Reagan collected the rebound and headed her second goal of the game past keeper Morgann Dills.

In the 25th minute, Shannon Reagan completed the hat trick when she took an Abbie Anderson pass in the middle of the box and deposited it into the lower right of the net.

Just a minute later, Lexie Hill gathered a ball batted around in the box and cut through the defense before beating the keeper with a blast into the left-center of the net.

Just before the 56th minute Jenna Clothier directed a perfect loft on a corner kick that Hannah Clothier headed into the net for her second goal of the season and 12th strike of her career.

In the 60th minute, Lexie Hill found Taylor Frizen in the left corner of the box and the sophomore connected for her fourth goal of the season.

Sydney O'Hara found Phoebe Deering with a pass in the center of the box in the 65th minute. Deering found the back of the net just above the outstretched keeper for her first goal of the season.

MC tallied their eighth goal when Emilie Boone posted an unassisted strike from the top of the box in the 78th minute.

The Scots completed their scoring in the 86th minute when Peyton Ballou took a shot from 20-yards out in the center of the box tricking a goal off the right post.

Maryville outshot the Cougars 40-8 on the evening with 16 blasts on goal.

The Scots will return to the pitch on Tuesday, September 17 at Transylvania. MC will host Emory University on Saturday, September 21 with a 3:00 first touch.
