The Maryville College women's soccer program remained undefeated in USA South Athletic Conference action with a 4-0 shutout victory over Huntingdon College on Saturday afternoon on MC's home pitch.
The Scots took control of the challenge early when Jenna Clothier directed a corner kick into the keeper crease. Senior Hannah Clothier trapped the loose ball and pushed it past the Hawk keeper at the 1:30 mark in the first half.
A solid defensive effort by Maggie Wilson, Alyssa Kral, Abbie Anderson, and Jenna Clothier allowed only one shot in the first half while Maryville took seven and went to the break with a 1-0 advantage.
In the 46th minute, Abbie Anderson found Taylor Frizen with a long through ball. As the keeper left the crease, Frizen found an open net and deposited her eighth goal of the season to make the score 2-0.
Six minutes later, Hannah Clothier gathered a cleared ball at the top of the box and sent a left-footed blast into the upper right of the net for her sixth goal of the season.
Maryville capped their scoring in the 55th minute when Shannon Reagan passed a perfect assist to Lexi Hill in the crease. Hill lofted an attack that was just out of the reach of Huntingdon's keeper for her third goal of the season.
The win advances Maryville to 8-4 on the season and 4-0 in league challenges. The loss takes Huntingdon to 3-7-2 overall and 2-1-1 in conference action.
The Scots will host Agnes Scott College at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday on MC's home pitch.
