Volleyball Remains Undefeated in USA South with Sweep of Methodist, Meredith

The Maryville College volleyball team advanced to 18-15 on the season and remain undefeated in USA South Athletic Conference action following a pair of match sweeps in Fayetteville, North Carolina on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Scots swept host Methodist University 3-0 by the scores of 25-19, 25-13, and 25-22 to begin the weekend USA South Tri-Match. Kelsey Handel deposited a team-high 12 kills while Kristen Sharp and Mary Kate White each added seven kills to MC's potent offensive attack. Lauren Bonee and Kristi Bowlin directed the efficient attack with 15 and 10 assists respectively. Handel and White each posted three blocks while Mallory Bonee led the defense with 13 digs.

 

Maryville advanced in the afternoon to challenge Meredith. The Scots swept Meredith 3-0 by the scores of 25-19, 25-16, and 25-15. Handel was strong at the net with 13 kills and three blocks. Sharp finished with eight kills and 10 digs. Abrianna Jones tossed in six kills. Mallory Bonee equaled Sharp's 10 digs with Stephanie Gleason adding nine digs.

 

The Scots (18-15, 14-0 USA South) will take a nine match wining streak into Tuesday's non-conference home match against Emory & Henry. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Boydson Baird Gymnasium.
