MC falls to Piedmont in regular season finale 3-2

The Maryville College volleyball team completed their regular season schedule to kick off Homecoming on campus with a 3-2 loss to USA South rival Piedmont College on Friday evening on MC's Randy Lambert Court.


The visiting Lions (12-11, 9-5 USA South) came out strong with 25-19 and 25-20 set wins before the Scots rallied back with 25-17 and 25-12 set victories to force a final winner-take-all set. Piedmont took the final set 15-11 to claim the hard-fought USA South challenge.


Madison Wilkerson paced the Scots at the net with a team-high 14 kills while Arin Wyttenbach added 13 kills. Meredith Bonee and Taylor Youell each finished with double-double efforts. Bonee dished out a team-high 21 assists while returning a team-high 15 digs. Youell recorded 14 assists while returning 11 digs. Brianne Sidner contributed 15 digs while Yasmeen Chan and Allison Bots each added 10 digs.


Maryville finishes their regular season 16-9 overall and 10-4 in USA South action.


The Scots will await seeding in the upcoming USA South Athletic Conference tournament after finishing in third place in the western division.
