Maryville College Volleyball hands Greensboro College their first loss of the season in three sets with scores of 25-8, 25-10, and 25-16.
Saidee McDaniel's support game at setter with 18 assists was pivotal to help senior attacker, Dejane Hester-Taylor deposited eight kills on an astounding .800 hitting percentage. Hester-Taylor also helped defend the net with three block assists. McDaniel came close to a double-double adding seven digs to her impressive amount of assists.
Both helped lift the Scots through three five-point runs. The initial run came at the end of set one to put the Scots on the board taking the first set in impressive fashion holding Greensboro to only eight points. The next run came through in the middle of the second set starting at 13-6 for the Scots to give them a big push towards the second set victory. The final run for the Scots came in set three starting at point 17 to put the volleyball squad in prime position to finish the game while giving Greensboro their first defeat of the season leaving them at 4-1.
Senior Brianne Sidner added a solid defensive game to her sheet tallying a total of 15 digs. Sidner also joined the offensive efforts as she totaled 5 kills for the Scots. Sophomore Meredith Bonee contributed to the Scots' offensive effort adding seven kills and an impressive six service aces. Transfer Maggie Mathews paced MC at the net with nine kills to secure the road victory.
The Scots will continue to play this evening at 8:00 P.M. against Roanoke College after having improved to 2-2.
