Maryville College moved to 3-0 in USA South play on Saturday afternoon, as the Scots swept Brevard College via straight sets in Berea, Ky.
MC won 25-10, 25-7, 25-12, as the Scots lead the conference's Western Division standings.
Maryville's Meredith Bonee narrowly missed a triple-double effort, as the sophomore led the Scots in both kills and digs. She had 14 digs, 13 assists and nine kills, while the Knoxville, Tenn. native added three aces and a block assists. Bonee hit .467 for the match.
Saturday's sweep marks the 12th sweep for MC this season and the third in USA South play.
Maryville controlled the tempo early, as the Scots took set one via a 25-10 tally. MC hit .375 as a squad, as they held Brevard to a negative .100 hitting percentage. MC had just three errors in the set, while allowing just two kills for the Tornados.
Bonee led the way with four kills and four digs in the opening set, as both Brianne Sidner and Maggie Mathews added three kills each. Sidner had a pair of key service aces, while Natalie Watts added four digs defensively.
Madison Wilkerson led the Scots to a huge 11-0 rally in the second set, as Maryville took the win 25-7. Wilkerson added four service aces in the rally, as she posted five digs defensively for the Scots. Sidner came alive with five kills, as Bonee and Hannah Potts had two kills each.
The Scots again held Brevard to a negative .107 hitting percentage, as they hit .400.
In the third set, it was Maryville by committee. Bonee posted five digs, three kills and three aces in the set to lead the way, as Dejane Hester-Taylor, Kamea Nash, Arin Wyttenbach and Rhianna Tyldesley had two kills each. Watts and Tyldesley had six digs apiece, while Bonee and Saidee McDaniel had five digs each.
For the third-straight set, the Scots held the Tornados to a negative hitting percentage.
Maryville (12-6, 3-0 USA South) was led by Bonee, as Sidner tallied eight kills at a .375 clip. She added three digs and a pair of aces, while Hester-Taylor had four kills at a .571 rate.
McDaniel led the team with 18 assists and eight digs, as she posted an ace, as well. Watts had 13 digs, two aces and an assist, as Maryville rolled up 13 total aces in the three-set victory. Wilkerson had four aces, five digs and a kill, as Wyttenbach added two block assists and two kills.
Brevard (0-15, 0-3) was paced by Breanna O'Shields who had four of their seven kills. Lande Simpson had four assists, while Mariana Rodriguez added 15 digs.
The Scots play Piedmont College at 2:00 p.m. in Berea, Ky.
