Scots place 29th in strong field at Greater Louisville Classic

Among almost 260 cross country runners, the Maryville College women placed 29th of 37 NCAA Division III programs at the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Kentucky. The course was adjusted to a 3.9K challenge after runners had a difficult time following the designed course.

Maryville College Head Coach Tyson Murphy was equally excited and disappointed in the event. "Several of our runner were on pace to set personal best times, but a wrong turn on the course cut the timing standard to a 3.9 to evaluate the field consistently."

Lea Mulligan was Maryville top finisher with a 14:48 effort placing 75th overall. Lilly Simms finished 119th with a 15:15 pace. Hannah Mattison finished within the top 200 racers with a 16:20 and a 198th place finish.

Other runners completing the challenge include: Maleah Wooten (18:41 | 242nd), Mikala Wooten (19:22 | 248th), Emily Cooper (19:30 | 250th), and Rebecca Starks (20:06 | 253rd).

Coach Tyson Murphy will have his squad now prepare for the Royals Challenge in Queens, North Carolina on Friday, October 11th.
